The community is an integral piece of World Relief’s puzzle, greatly assisting World Relief Fox Valley in standing with vulnerable populations through a variety of ways; from prayer and advocacy to hands on work to relationship-building.
At World Relief Fox Valley, it is our firm belief that this experience involves mutually transformative relationships; in which American born individuals are also learning from their new refugee friends. Everyone involved in the relationship empowers, becomes empowered, and learns about how to form real bonds, built on love, dedication, humility, and humbleness. Due to the above, we wish to refer to everyone looking to get engaged in this work as an Immigrant Ambassador rather than a "volunteer". We believe the term Immigrant Ambassador lays the foundation for mutual transformation and equal relationships in which we are all a community of people, coming together.
We do not have any orientations scheduled for September. If you are interested in attending a future orientation, please e-mail email@example.com and our staff will reach out to you when we have our next dates scheduled.
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org if you plan to attend an orientation to ensure we have adequate seating and handouts. If we do not receive any sign-ups by 9:00AM on the morning of an orientation, it will be canceled.
During orientation, our goal is to equip you to better understand the refugees and other immigrants in the Fox Valley, along with your role as their neighbors! Topics covered in orientation include: Who is World Relief?, Who is a Refugee, Immigrant, Migrant?, The Road to Resettlement, Refugees & Other Immigrants in the World, Adjustment Issues and Services Provided, Self-Sufficiency, Volunteer Expectations, and Helping Without Hurting (along with videos, interactive exercises and time for questions).
**Please note that our offices serve the Fox Valley so we currently only place and serve clients living in Appleton and Oshkosh, WI.
